In India these are the needs we have:
1) We need to make another
Indian
co-worker full-time; to pastorally care for the hundreds of new believers
that we
now have in our dozens of newly established works in new villages. That
will cost $250/month which we don't
have. These people must be cared for and overseen. That's our most
urgent prayer request and need of all.
2) We
need to give
each new believer a Bible in their local language. These are available
from the Indian Bible Society for a minimal price. We need 1000 at a
cost
of $2,000. This is really crucial to maturity and growth in Christ and
represents an immediate need.
3) We have an old Indian jeep that we
can't insure because it has rusted out holes that require repair and
must have a
paint job. $200 is needed in tools to make repairs by the director.
4) During a
recent cyclone, four feet of retainer fell from the home used as the
main headquarters in India. The
dirt has fallen away to within
four
inches of the foundation. Laborers and director can do the work, but it
will still cost $2,000 for
the
materials and labor. It will require reinforced concrete and brick
work. It will probably take all winter long to
complete.
The house is not complete.
It has no
windows and
during the rainy season, the furniture must be moved to the center of
the room
to keep it from being damaged. Then there's all the mess of water on
the
floors. It's takes shop equipment to do this kind of work. There is
also the security
concerns (burglary and physical assault) associated with living in a
house with no windows. It will cost $3000 for all the necessary repairs.
An additional $500 for a wrought iron gate at the front driveway to
ensure a more secure area.
